Pakistan is among the poorest countries in the world and acutely vulnerable to climate change, rising temperatures, critical water shortages, and natural disasters. One in five people live below the poverty line, and for many marginalised groups, this means limited access to essential services.
Currently, around 22 million people do not have access to safe water, around 263 million children are out of school, and an estimated 2 million people are suffering from blindness. In response, IHF USA is delivering life-changing programmes and seasonal campaigns that are benefiting Pakistan’s most vulnerable communities.
From safe water solutions and quality education programmes to eye care camps, our projects are helping to transform lives of some of Pakistan’s most vulnerable families.
Our eye care programme is giving hundreds of people the gift of sight. It’s enabling children to continue with their education, parents to provide for their family, and individuals to integrate into their communities.
Our eye camps screen patients for cataracts, presbyopia and ocular motility, in addition to screening children for refractive error. We also treat eye infections, provide prescriptions and spectacles, as well as perform surgical procedures for those with correctible problems.
In 2018 IHF USA screened nearly 2,000 people were screened, 1,015 received medication for infections, 151 cataract operations were performed, 1,070 pairs of reading glasses for adults were ordered, as well as 254 pairs of glasses for children.
Please support our eye camps today to give more people the gift of sight.
Pakistan is one of the top 10 countries with the greatest number of people living without access to clean water. 22 million people still do not have a safe water source and nearly 19,500 children die each year due to poor sanitation and drinking dirty water.
IHF USA is installing fresh water pumps in some of Pakistan’s most impoverished communities, which are giving hundreds of families safe, clean and drinkable water from locations close to their homes.
In 2017, IHF USA installed over 800 hand pumps to some of the poorest regions in Pakistan.
Please help us to install more water pumps in Pakistan and give families the gift of safe water.
85% of the population in Pakistan does not have access to clean water. Many families must travel miles to collect water that is contaminated, and unsafe, and entire communities can suffer from waterborne diseases.
IHF USA is delivering water purification plants across some of Pakistan’s most impoverished rural communities. Our plants have the capacity to filter gallons of water every day and are providing safe, fresh water from a source close to home and significantly reducing diseases, such as diarrhoea, cholera, dysentery, hepatitis A and typhoid.
Please help us to deliver more water filtration plants and give families the gift of safe water.
Through the year our dedicated IHF USA volunteers hand deliver thousands of food packs to impoverished communities, providing families with cooking essentials like rice, ghee, sugar, salt, tea, vermicelli, chick peas, lentils, and flour.
100% of your donation buys food.
In 2017, a staggering 10,000 food parcels were delivered by IHF USA, providing essential support to nearly 160,000 people.
No family should have to go without food – please support our food pack programme today.
Eid is a day of giving and there is nothing more precious than giving a child a special gift – especially a child who many never have received an Eid gift before. In 2017 IHF USA distributed gifts on the auspicious day of Eid to 500 children in the outskirts of Lahore. This year, our team of IHF USA volunteers will be working tirelessly to deliver Eid gifts, including clothing and toys, to some of the world’s most poverty-affected children.
Please spread the happiness of Eid – make a vulnerable child smile with a special gift they will never forget.
Nothing could be more rewarding than providing a poverty-stricken family with a hot, wholesome and nutritious Iftar meal. In 2017 there were 10,000+ direct beneficiaries from our iftar programme.
During Ramadan, our IHF USA volunteers prepare and serve hot meals in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities, but we cannot do this without your help.
